This industry, with sales estimated to be $14 billion in 2020, has exploded in recent years with sales of $13 billion in 2016 and $16 billion in 2017, according a recent study by the Pew Research Center.
The marijuana industry is expanding rapidly as more states allow recreational use of the drug, including a record $7.8 billion in revenue in Colorado alone in 2018, according the report.
The report said there were approximately 8,000 retail marijuana shops in the United States, representing roughly 7 percent of the entire retail marijuana market.
